Bryan King doesn’t think Tottenham would allow Guglielmo Vicario to leave before next summer unless they received a “ridiculous offer” for the goalkeeper.
The ex-Spurs scout believes any suggestion of a big-money fee for Vicario is “a little bit over the top.”
As reported by Calciomercato (14 October), Vicario is unlikely to leave Tottenham unless the North London club receive a “mind-blowing” offer.
And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the 28-year-old will still be Spurs’ number one come the end of the season.
“I don’t think anybody would buy Vicario until next summer anyway,” King said.
“He wouldn’t leave Tottenham until the summer and I think any quote of a high fee is a little over the top. Vicario for me started very well, but he hasn’t been that consistent.
“However, as I said, there is no way Spurs would let go of their number one goalkeeper until the summer unless it is a ridiculous offer, but where are Inter Milan going to get the kind of money from which Tottenham seem to be asking for?
“I don’t think there are many Italian clubs which can afford Vicario. This seems like a story plucked from the air at the moment. He is Spurs’ goalkeeper and he will be at the end of the season.”
Guglielmo Vicario to remain at Tottenham?
Vicario’s form has been subject to intense scrutiny at times. However, he remains Spurs’ number one having only signed for the club last year.
Therefore, it is unlikely that the North London club would give up on him anytime soon and begin the costly hunt for a brand-new number one.
There has even been speculation that the Italy international could even push to sign a brand-new contract with Spurs and remain playing under Ange Postecoglou.
Letting go of Vicario mid-season doesn’t seem like it would be wise. However, if an Italian club were to somehow come up with a big-money offer, it could prove difficult for Spurs to refuse.
In other Tottenham news, Manchester City are in advanced talks to beat the club to a new signing.
