John Wenham has revealed Michael Noonan trialled with Tottenham as Manchester City now look set to win the race for the teenager’s signature.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims the 16-year-old Irish striker spent a week in North London during the summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano via X (18 October), Manchester City are in advanced talks to sign Noonan from St. Patricks, with the forward keen on the move.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has detailed how Spurs had been keen to keep an eye on the player’s development.

“I know that Noonan was on trial at Hotspur Way this summer,” Wenham said.

“He can’t move until he turns 18. However, he was obviously a long-term target for the club if they invited him over for a week and gave him a full kit and everything.

“They definitely would have been keen to continue monitoring his development.”

With Noonan keen on a move to Manchester, it looks as though Ange Postecoglou’s side will have to accept missing out on the youngster.

However, not all hope is lost, with Wenham expecting Noonan’s St Pat’s teammate Mason Melia to join Spurs in January 2026 after the club made a “big-money” offer for the 17-year-old.

In addition, they recently beat out competition to sign an “exciting” young defender from a Premier League club.

Therefore, despite looking set to miss out on Noonan, there is still plenty to be positive about for Spurs and Postecoglou.
