Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed the Man City 115 charges case may not be fully resolved until the 2025-26 or 2026-27 campaigns.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted such a delay would be “damaging” for all parties and urged the warring factions to find a suitable and timely solution.
The Times revealed on Monday (12 August) that Man City’s 115 charges hearing will start next month with an initial outcome to be made public in the new year.
Speaking to the BBC the following day, Premier League CEO Richard Masters insisted “it is time now for the case to resolve itself”.
City were charged last year for a range of alleged rule breaches, including failure to comply with the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for seven seasons.
Pep Guardiola’s side have won the Premier League title in each of the last four campaigns and are favourites to repeat the feat a fifth time.
Man City appeals could stretch 115 charges case to 2027, says Wyness
Wyness insisted he expects a slew of appeals after an initial outcome is released.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “This is the granddaddy of all Premier League challenges to clubs.
“It’s massive, we’ll be sitting with a bowl of popcorn watching the event as much as we can.
“They’ve said it should last around 10 weeks, which brings us up to November. You’d hope to have an indication around Easter in the following year.
“But then we’ll see appeals and all sorts of things.
“We’re not going to get a resolution until next season or perhaps even the season after.
“The longer this goes on, the more damage is done to Man City and the Premier League.
“You’ve got to hope that both parties can find a way to try and resolve this and put an end to it.”
