Lucá Williams-Barnett has proven that he should already be featuring for the Tottenham Under-21s.

Stuart Lewis’ side recorded an empathetic 4-3 victory over Manchester United’s Under-18s at Hotspur Way on Saturday (5 October).

The visitors went into the match boasting a 100 per cent record in all competitions this season, which made the victory all the more impressive.

Spurs raced into a 4-0 lead before United scored three goals and applied plenty of pressure late on. However, the hosts held strong to record their first victory in the Under-18 Premier League Cup this season.

It was Ellis Lehane who fired Spurs ahead, before Williams-Barnett once again stole the headlines, scoring a hattrick and demonstrating that he is ready to push on to the next level.

Williams-Barnett has received plenty of plaudits this season, with Tottenham youth expert John Wenham recently singing his praises.

The 16-year-old is still officially a schoolboy player, playing his first full season for the Under-18s. Therefore, his recent form is even more impressive.

Williams-Barnett netted a rebound in the 19th minute against United, before embarking on a “dazzling” solo run and finishing well to double his tally for the afternoon (via Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 5 October).

He was denied a hattrick in the first half after hitting the post, before eventually grabbing a third in the 52nd minute.

It means the young forward now has nine goals in eight appearances in all competitions this season, proving that he is already too good for Under-18s football.

As a result, the club should consider handing Williams-Barnett an opportunity to feature for the Under-21s. Mikey Moore is already playing at first-team level at the age of 17.

Therefore, there is no reason Williams-Barnett can’t shine for the Under-21s, despite only recently celebrating his 16th birthday.

In other Tottenham news, Everton have been mooted to make a £60million transfer offer for one player at the club.
