'There is a positive' - Wenham details Tottenham progress despite 'Disappointing' Brighton loss

John Wenham has highlighted one “positive” after Tottenham were beaten 3-2 by Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Sunday (6 October).

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes there is now “huge pressure” on the clash against West Ham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (19 October).

Spurs’ five-match unbeaten run came to an end against Brighton. Despite Ange Postecoglou’s side leading 2-0 at half-time, three second-half goals from Brighton turned the game on its head.

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels there are still signs of progress even after the second-half collapse.

“There is a positive from this,” Wenham said.

“We’re conceding fewer goals and scoring more from the same games that we played last season. However, the defeat against Brighton was very disappointing.

“Especially with it being an international break now, everybody has got to think about it for two weeks before we play West Ham. There will be huge pressure on that game now.”

Ange Postecoglou making progress at Tottenham?

Spurs got a point from their trip to Old Trafford last season, while they won 3-0 against Manchester United away this season (29 September).

While they were beaten by Brighton away, Arsenal at home and Newcastle away last season and this season, the scorelines were more favourable this time around.

However, that won’t be of any interest to supporters. While Postecoglou might suggest that is a sign of progress of some sort, a loss is still a loss.

Therefore, the Australian will need to start turning things around quickly and demonstrate that his side can retain control of matches, with one player in particular needing to improve.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham has raved about the “freakishly good” Luka Vušković after what he did recently.
