Gordon Duncan has shared a message from Philippe Clement in which he asks Rangers fans to stay patient after the 1-0 defeat against Kilmarnock.
The Gers fell to their second league defeat of the season on Sunday (20 October) at Rugby Park, leaving supporters angry with their side.
The Light Blues boss was aware of the discontent but Duncan, speaking on Sky Sports News [23 October, 2:33pm] from the Gers’ training base after Clement’s latest press conference, revealed patience is being asked for after a summer of change at Ibrox.
He said: “The reaction to Sunday’s defeat has been massive in Glasgow. We should take social media reaction with a pinch of salt, but we also saw the reaction in the stadium and that’s continued on social media.
“There’s a big negative opinion out there, but Clement’s message is to stay patient. Big earners were moved on in the summer due to mistakes in the past and younger players have come in that will need longer to settle in.
“That was ultimately Clement’s message to supporters.”
Philippe Clement wants patience at Rangers
It feels like a difficult time for the Belgian manager at Ibrox despite things starting to look up before the clash against Killie.
There was little to no silver linings to take from the defeat, where it had always felt as if the home side were going to grab a winner.
The likes of Tom Lawrence and Cyriel Dessers really struggled to have any sort of attacking impact, leaving the forward line blunt at Rugby Park.
It has to be said that the back-line was similarly poor, with Robin Propper struggling before being taken off to be replaced by Leon Balogun.
It won’t be a surprise after this poor showing that Clement is demanding patience from supporters who are starting to get, or already are, bored of this request.
The Gers need to bounce back with a positive result against FCSB in the Europa League and then against St Mirren in the league otherwise fans are going to grow very impatient.
