Stevie Clifford reveals what Danilo told him after Rangers B team win

Stevie Clifford revealed that Danilo was feeling positive after playing 60 minutes in Rangers’ B team 4-1 win over Stenhousemir on Tuesday (22 October).

The 25-year-old Brazilian has made just three appearances for the Gers in all competitions this season as he continues to recover from a knee injury.

Danilo also only made five Scottish Premiership appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, suffering multiple injury setbacks at Ibrox, but his return looks to be closer than ever.

Replying to a question on the striker, Clifford wrote via X [22 October]: “He was fine, had a really good 60 minutes and scored a good finish into the corner.

“Spoke to him after and he really enjoyed it and was feeling good.”

Danilo set for imminent Rangers return?

While Cyriel Dessers has been in decent form for the Light Blues, notching seven goals in 14 appearances so far this season, Philippe Clement lacks variety in the final third.

Oscar Cortes and Rabbi Matondo are both unavailable and with Hamza Igamane yet to hit the back of the net, Danilo would be a welcome addition to the squad this season.

The 25-year-old has proven himself to be a dynamic goalscorer during spells with Ajax, Feyenoord and FC Twente, which saw his move to Scotland greeted by a lot of excitement.

Of course, Clement will be in no rush to throw Danilo back into the starting lineup, given his recent injury record at Ibrox, but the recent updates are very encouraging.

Clubs often sign promising players, who are then plagued by injury, but the recent signs would suggest that Danilo is not far away from a first-team return.
