Standard Liege boss Ivan Leko has issued a non-commital reply with regards to the future of Rangers target Isaac Price.
When asked about the 21-year-old’s potential January transfer away from the Belgian club [Walfoot], Leko stated that he is not concerned with it, but is only focused on the next game.
It’s understood that Gers are keen on bringing in new faces through the door in the winter as they aim to put up a fight to end the season well.
Leko said, as quoted by the Daily Record [24 December]: “I’m not afraid of losing him in January because I’m not busy with that now. I’m only focused on the Mechelen match on Thursday.
“Isaac brings stability to the collective structure. Of course, a No.8 must also, ideally have maybe three goals and three assists this season and he has none. He lacks that, and he knows it.
“But we must not forget his age and the context in which he is evolving. I have no doubts about his potential. He is an excellent football player, we must give him a little time.”
Rangers must consider signing Isaac Price
Price could be a solid signing for the Ibrox outfit due to his youthful promise and potential to grow into a key player.
At only 21, he has already demonstrated stability in midfield, as acknowledged by Leko at Standard Liege.
Rangers are looking to bolster their squad for a strong finish to the season, and Price’s versatility as a No.8 could add depth and creativity to their lineup.
Although he hasn’t contributed with goals or assists this season, he could soon translate that potential into tangible on-field contributions.
His experience in the Belgian Pro League could translate well to the Scottish Premiership and will have Nicolas Raskin to help him out as he also moved from Liege to Ibrox.
Additionally, with Gers possibly looking to refresh their midfield options, Price represents a long-term investment with room for improvement, which could prove beneficial as they aim to compete at the highest level.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has issued another claim on Philippe Clement being sacked with the game against Celtic around the corner.
