Report: There's now a growing worry £192,000-a-week Liverpool player will leave this summer
Wow...????
According to a recent report, Liverpool are now growing increasingly concerned that one of their star players could leave this summer transfer window.
Liverpool are in a new era under the stewardship of newly appointed manager Arne Slot, who will be eager to make his own imprint on the squad.
It’s understood that he wants an attacker, a defensive midfielder and a central defender following Joel Matip’s departure.
Though, he’ll have to contend with the possible exit of a crucial first-teamer, who’s being linked with a move to a European giant.
Liverpool worried Trent Alexander-Arnold could join Real Madrid
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has one year remaining on his contract and is yet to renew his deal.
That’s causing great concern around Anfield and according to GiveMeSport, they’re fearful he could depart for Real Madrid.
The England international isn’t pushing to leave by any means but he is open to joining the European Champions.
Liverpool are scrambling to get new terms agreed before Madrid intensify their interest now that Euro 2024 has come to a close.
Real Madrid may consider move in 2025
At the end of last season, there was a belief that Madrid may wait until 2025 to sign Alexander-Arnold on a free transfer.
However, as things stand, it seems they’re weighing up an approach this summer as they look to find a potential successor to Daniel Carvajal.
Alexander-Arnold reportedly earns around £192,000-a-week, as per Salary Sport, so he’ll likely want an improved wage in forthcoming contract talks.
Though, Liverpool have historically had a pretty stern cap on wages, so Madrid may be able to offer a much more lucrative deal.
A telling few weeks await.
In other news, Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool have held talks with the agent of ‘one of Europe’s best talents’.
