Ruben Amorim now wants to strike Man United deal with Everton - report

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim wants to sign Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite in January, according to Fichajes.

The online outlet reported on 20 November that the Portuguese manager wants three new signings in his first window in charge of the Red Devils with the Toffees defender as one of those.

The 22-year-old’s ability to lead from the back while being solid in the air will make him “an ideal piece to strengthen United’s defensive line” under their new boss.

During the last summer transfer window, there were plenty of links between the centre back and United despite a move never going through.

This came as the Toffees used the £80million spent on Harry Maguire as a yardstick which they were reluctant to budge from [Ben Jacobs].

Branthwaite has remained at Goodison but has hardly featured this season due to injury which has seen him appear in just 186 minutes of Premier League action.

Despite this, it appears that Amorim still sees him as his dream defender signing in his first window in charge at Old Trafford.

The ex-Sporting Lisbon boss typically operates with a 3-4-3 formation and as a result a centre back signing for the Red Devils would make sense.

With Dan Friedkin looking to complete a takeover at Goodison in the coming months, it is unclear whether or not a move for the former Carlisle youngster will go through.

Regardless of this, Amorim appears to have set his sights on signing the Everton man which may be enough to tempt the Englishman into signing.
