The Belgian FA are in “deep trouble” financially after links to Rangers manager Philippe Clement, sources have told Ibrox News.
Clement was labelled as the favourite to replace Domenico Todesco if he was sacked, after the Belgians lost 1-0 against Israel on 17 November [Rangers Review].
Sources in Belgium have now told Ibrox News that with a financial loss of £9.1million each year, they cannot technically fire Todesco before 2025.
Belgian FA in deep trouble despite Rangers news
Clement recently signed a new contract at Ibrox until the summer of 2028, making a move extremely difficult for any interested party.
Despite that show of faith, Rangers somehow sit third in the Scottish Premiership, a whopping nine points behind Aberdeen and Celtic already.
Alexandre Braeckman and RTL Sports have told Ibrox News that it would cost the Belgian FA around £1.2million to sack Todesco, making a move for Clement unrealistic.
With John Gilligan overseeing several new senior appointments at Ibrox as interim chairman, a new manager being added to that list would be impossible.
As things stand, Clement will take charge of Rangers as normal in the upcoming Scottish Premiership clash against Dundee United at Ibrox on 23 November.
In other Rangers news, a recent signing could be set to leave the club at the first opportunity.
