Gary Neville and Paul Scholes believe Manchester City will win 3-2 against Tottenham at the Etihad on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola is set to sign a new deal with the Premier League champions. However, the Spaniard has seen his side lose each of their last four matches in all competitions going into their showdown with Spurs.
One of those defeats was at the hands of Ange Postecoglou’s men in the Cartabao Cup on 30 October and the Londoners will be looking to repeat that outcome in Eastlands on 22 November.
While ex-Manchester United pair Neville and Scholes believe City will return to winning ways in a five-goal thriller, Roy Keane was having none of it.
“This is the result I was talking about,” said Neville on The Overlap on 21 November.
“I’m going to 3-2 to City, Scholes. What do you reckon?”
“Ooh. Yeah, go on. I’ll go with that.”
Roy Keane then replied: “3-2? No chance.”
Man City v Tottenham is opportunity for both teams to bounce back
While Man City are on a four-match losing run, Spurs aren’t in the best of form either.
Postecoglou’s side lost both of their last two matches prior to the international break, suffering defeats at the hands of Galatasaray in the Europa League and struggling Ipswich Town – at home – in the Premier League.
It’s going to be a very tough game for Spurs to bounce back in.
News of Guardiola’s new contract is likely to spur the Citizens on. However, Tottenham don’t have the worst of records against them, having won four of their last eight meetings in all competitions.
As it stands, Spurs are 10th in the league but they’re only three points shy of Chelsea in third and a win at the Etihad this weekend will no doubt propel them up the standings.
Alternatively, the North London club could drop as low as 13th if results do not go their way.
In other Tottenham news, Man City are “optimistic” about sealing a deal to sign this player from Spurs.
