Sources: Liverpool's Trent message revealed

Liverpool are making some progress in contract negotiations with Trent Alexander-Arnold, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old right-back is out of contract at Anfield next summer, but the message from the club is that talks are ongoing between both parties.

Alexander-Arnold will be able to speak with foreign clubs about pre-contract agreements from January, which opens up the possibility of him leaving the club.

Football Insider revealed that Real Madrid are stepping up their interest in the England international after Dani Carvajal sustained a serious knee injury.

However, Alexander-Arnold’s team have revealed that no other talks have happened with other clubs at his stage.

Sources have told Football Insider that Liverpool are hopeful they can convince the defender to remain at is boyhood club.

Alexander-Arnold has been a regular in the team under Arne Slot, having started every Premier League and Champions League game so far this season.

Football Insider revealed that the Englishman is happy to remain at the club, but he has put the situation in Liverpool’s hands.

Alexander-Arnold wants the club to match his ambitions in terms of winning trophies, and how they operate in the transfer market.

The right-back last signed a contract extension at Anfield in 2021 and he has made 323 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Liverpool are currently dealing with several top stars running out of contract next summer as Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are also in this situation.
