Sources: Tottenham & Arsenal in race to sign next Mudryk

Tottenham and Arsenal are in the race to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Premier League sides are “doing their due diligence” on the 22-year-old.

Sudakov is one of Europe’s exciting prospects, and he is on the transfer target list of numerous top clubs, including multiple Premier League sides.

But Shakhtar Donetsk are notoriously difficult to do business with, which could make any potential transfer complex to complete.

Sources have told Football Insider that no move for the Ukraine international will take place in January, but interested parties might step up their interest in the summer.

Sudakov has drawn comparisons to his Ukraine teammate Mykhailo Mudryk, who also caught the attention of European clubs after his performances for Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Chelsea winger scored 14 goals and provided 17 assists in 44 appearances for the Ukranian football club.

There are question marks over whether or not Sudakov will be able to physically handle the demands of the Premier League, which has been the case for Mudryk.

Sudakov is also being monitored by Man City at the moment as the Premier League giants are starting to plan for life without Kevin De Bruyne, while Liverpool are also interested in him.

A big transfer fee will be needed to lure him away from his current club as he’s under a long-term deal until 2028.

The attacking midfielder has made an emphatic start to the 2024-25 campaign by scoring seven goals and providing two assists in his first eight games in all competitions.

Sudakov also boasts Champions League experience, which is seen as beneficial to Tottenham and Arsenal.

Football Insider revealed that the Gunners are plotting to make offensive improvements to the squad as the club are keen to assess their options in this area of the pitch, which Sudakov could aid.
