Victor Osimhen’s social media presence has undergone a striking transformation following his season-long loan move from Napoli to Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian striker has grabbed attention with a decisive move, erasing all traces of Napoli from his profiles, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), and proudly donning the colours of the Turkish giants.
This rebrand follows a summer of intense transfer drama, as Osimhen’s future remained uncertain until the closing moments of the window.
The 2024 summer transfer saga will be remembered by Osimhen’s loyal fans as a turbulent period marked by a standoff between his club, his representatives, and potential suitors.
A proposed move to Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli, followed by links to Premier League side Chelsea, fell through. Eventually, the Super Eagles star found a new home with Istanbul-based Galatasaray, in what many have described as a much-needed “escape route.”
Reports have suggested that Osimhen no longer feels valued at Napoli, and this move offers him an opportunity to break free from what some have referred to as a form of “club slavery” in Italy.
Osimhen’s updated bio now reads, “Professional football player for Galatasaray and Super Eagles of Nigeria,” accompanied by a new display picture of himself in a Galatasaray jersey—though notably, his face is cropped out. His banner image features the back of him in the number 45 shirt, carrying his daughter, symbolising a fresh chapter in his career.
The Nigerian forward made an immediate impact as a substitute in Nigeria’s recent 3-0 victory over Benin Republic, where he latched onto a Wilfred Ndidi pass to double the Super Eagles’ lead.
As Nigeria prepares to face Rwanda at the Stade Amahoro on Tuesday, all eyes will be on Osimhen to see if he can build on this momentum and continue his goal-scoring form for both club and country.
