Supercomputer predicts final league table with Man United given shock position

Opta have predicted Premier League heartbreak for Arsenal and Man United fans with Man City set to be runaway champions.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been projected to win their fifth consecutive Premier League title, the first side to do so in the competition’s history, finishing on 91 points.

That means more heartbreak for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal as they’re predicted to come in a distant second, ten points behind City.

Liverpool and Chelsea round off the top four, securing Champions League football in Arne Slot and Enzo Maresca’s first seasons at their respective helms.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are projected to finish in the Europa League spots with Unai Emery’s side in fifth and Eddie Howe’s in sixth, both on 62 points.

In the final European spot are Ange Postecoglu’s Tottenham in seventh, two positions below where they ended up in 2023-24.

Opta predict bad Premier League news for Arsenal and Man United

Erik ten Hag nearly lost his job at the end of last season but was saved by winning the FA Cup after finishing eighth in the league.

Opta don’t think Man United will do any better next season, once again finishing in eighth on 57 points, three less than last season.

Brighton, Fulham, Brentford, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest occupy the places from 9th to 15th.

Everton and Wolves are predicted to narrowly escape relegation in 16th and 17th despite both clubs sitting in the drop zone after their first five Premier League games.

That means it’s bad news for the three newly-promoted sides as Opta predict all three will go right back down into the Championship.
