'Thanks for the memories' - Long-standing Goodison Park figure reveals Everton have let him go

Goodison Park stadium announcer Graeme White has revealed he is being let go by Everton for the final season at the ground.

The long-time Toffees figure confirmed via X on 7 July that the club have not renewed his contract for the new campaign, having decided to bring a more well-known “name” to take over.

Everton are set to move into their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium from the start of 2024/25 season.

White wrote: “After 9 years as stadium announcer. Last week. I was informed that my match day contract was not being renewed. The club have moved to an established “Name” as they change to in vision presenting for Goodison’s last season. Thanks for the memories. Loved every minute.”

Former boxer and well-known Toffees supporter Tony Bellew was among those to react to the post, responding with sad face emojies and blue hearts: “You’ve done a great job mate.”

Everton have now announced that Simon Ross will be returning to take over.

The final campaign at Goodison Park was always going to be an emotion one and most fans would be hoping for the club to put the effort in to mark the occasion.

But it will clearly be a huge disappointment for White if he has been the regular voice on match days throughout the drama and tension of multiple relegation battles and has now been moved on for what is sure to be a memorable year.

That first Frank Lampard and then Sean Dyche, twice, ensured Everton have remained a Premier League club for this historic season is crucial, and the same must be done again to send the club into their new home as a top flight outfit.

Graeme White has revealed Everton are moving on from him.
Former boxer Tony Bellew was among those to share their reaction.

Dan Friedkin has entered into an exclusivity agreement with current owner Farhad Moshiri and is expected, barring issues emerging during his due diligence checks, to take over at the club within the coming months.

The American coming in is largely predicted to be a crucial step forward after the chaos of the Moshiri reign, and has led to renewed hopes that the Toffees could be restored towards former glories.

In other Everton news, a trio of further new Toffees signings could now be on the cards after the latest update.
