Jose Mourinho could be the Hollywood-esque manager to take Everton to the next level, believes Ian Croll.
The Liverpool Echo journalist admits that while he might not be the sort of profile The Friedkin Group might target, he could deliver results for the club with the Toffees moving into their new home at Bramley-Moore Dock next season.
This comes after the Fenerbahce manager admitted on 24 October that he would not mind returning to the Premier League to take over a side battling relegation.
Croll wrote on X: “This Mourinho comment & apparent hint at Everton. It goes against the grain of what I’d want for a young and up coming manager working with a DOF. But that doesn’t mean he couldn’t be a success. If there was ever a ‘Hollywood’ manager to take us into Bramley-Moore, this is it.”
Jose Mourinho may actually be a decent appointment for Everton
Known for his tactical acumen and ability to turn around struggling teams, Mourinho’s experience could be pivotal in elevating Everton’s competitive stature.
His track record of winning major trophies and his reputation for instilling a winning mentality could galvanise the team, potentially lifting their performance levels significantly.
Moreover, the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager’s charisma and “Hollywood” appeal could attract high-profile players and rejuvenate fan engagement, providing a fresh, ambitious narrative for the club.
His pragmatic approach might not always be aesthetically pleasing, but it’s undeniably effective, which could be crucial in the Premier League’s relegation battles or pushing for European spots.
While some might argue for a younger, more developmental manager, Mourinho’s immediate impact could provide the necessary boost for Everton to navigate the transition into their new stadium era with a robust team spirit and competitive edge.
The new owners would also be sending a message that they’re serious about their plans for the club and it could help transform Mourinho’s career once again.
