Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League at the top of the Premier League at the moment, and they’re doing so against the odds.
Indeed, Liverpool have defied many expectations this season as they have ascended to the top of the table despite entering a new era under a new manager.

On top of the managerial change, Liverpool have had to contend with a number of injury issues.
Alisson Becker has been injured recently, while Diogo Jota has been out for a while.
Harvey Elliott has missed most of the season so far, but, luckily, Elliott could be back in action soon.
Indeed, according to James Pearce, speaking on the Walk On Podcast, Elliott will be back in first team training for Liverpool later this week.
Harvey Elliott set to return to Liverpool training
Pearce shared what he knows about Elliott.
The journalist says that Elliott has been back tracking with the U21s recently, and he’s set to join up with the first-team later this week.
Elliott has been described as an ‘exceptional’ player in the past.
“With Alisson’s not far off, Jota should be back. Slot said he expected Jota back a week after this break,” Pearce said.
“You’ve got Harvey Elliott was stepping up with the 21s last week, with a view to joining the seniors later on this week.
“We know that Trent’s injury was only a minor one, and obviously a race against time for him for the weekend. So at the minute, though, there’s no obvious signs of Liverpool preparing to get the chequebook out in January.”
How will Harvey Elliott do under Arne Slot?
We’ve now got a grasp on what Liverpool look like under their new manager, but we’re yet to see how Elliott operates in Slot’s system.
The midfielder’s return to action is reason to be excited. After all, he could be a star under Slot.
Slot was gutted when Elliott got injured, and John Barnes believes Elliott could be a star under the new gaffer.
Indeed, Barnes named Elliott as a player he thought would flourish under Slot after watching Liverpool in pre-season.
“I was on tour with them in pre-season and they were doing a lot of work technically. They’re going to be a much more technical team in midfield, not as high-energy, not as heavy metal,” Barnes said.
“The technical players in the midfield, that is going to suit them, the Harvey Elliott’s, the Curtis Jones’, it’s going to suit them, it’s not going to be the old Henderson, Fabinho, Milner.”
Elliott will be back in training later this week, and while it’s probably too early for him to get a start at the weekend, it won’t be long before he’s back playing first-team football for Liverpool.
