'Time for change' - David Edgar tears into Rangers board in new CEO admission

David Edgar has hit out at the Rangers board amid new developments admitting that it is now “time for change” at Ibrox.

The Gers board have come under criticism this summer for delays to the redevelopment of Ibrox as well as the lack of transfer activity both in and out of Philippe Clement’s squad in the transfer window.

On top of that, the Light Blues are yet to appoint a new CEO following James Bisgrove’s surprise departure and Heart and Hand host Edgar believes the current structure at Rangers “hasn’t worked”.

Writing on X on Thursday (18 July) he said: “A board at a business – any business – shouldn’t be involved in the day-to-day running of it. Appoint a CEO, stand back and let them run it and keep an overview of it.

“If they don’t hit agreed targets, fire them and move on. We’ve had a ‘too many cooks’ situation at Ibrox for too long and it hasn’t worked. Time for change.”

Are Rangers close to any new signings in the summer transfer window?

Supporters have every right to feel frustrated with the Rangers board at this moment in time as there have been far too many instances of those in charge promising more than they are actually able to deliver.

This summer was supposed to see Clement and his recruitment team undertake a massive overhaul of the playing squad but so far, only one player has been sold for a transfer fee and that was second-choice keeper Robby McCrorie.

The likes of James Tavernier, Todd Cantwell, Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have all been linked with moves away from Glasgow, but so far, none of those players have even come close to packing their bags.

On top of that, the lack of communication from the top of the club regarding the delays at Ibrox and then the temporary move to Hampden Park has been amateurish at best.

Rangers need to up their game if they genuinely want to close the gap to Celtic on the playing field because their actions over the last couple of months have been almost amateurish.
