Timo Werner issue spotted in Tottenham win v Man City – ‘He’s done’

Tottenham ace Timo Werner was spotted holding his groin in Spurs’ 2-1 Carabao Cup win over Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium by Phil McNulty.

The BBC Sport journalist reported via X on 30 October that the attacker was “done” and soon after that, he was swiftly replaced by Richarlison.

“Werner holding his groin muscle. He’s done. Richarlison and Mikey Moore coming on with Brennan Johnson also going off,” he wrote.

Werner has found himself under plenty of scrutiny this season but that didn’t stop Ange Postecoglou from starting him over Mikey Moore in their Carabao Cup tie.

The attacker was one of Spurs’ best players on the pitch before his premature removal and proved why Postecoglou brought him back in the summer.

Tottenham are now set to advance into the quarter-finals of the cup and will no doubt have one eye on adding the trophy to their cabinet come the end of the season.

Tottenham have now won four out of their last six games and seem to be becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Dejan Kulusevski’s performance can’t go unnoticed either, because, without him, Spurs wouldn’t have stood a chance.

There’s still plenty of time left in the season for things to change of course but if Spurs can keep up the level of performance they showed against City on Wednesday evening, it’s hard to see how they won’t make their way into the Champions League spots.
