Tony Scott slams Everton, details how fans reacted at FT v Brentford

Liverpool Echo journalist Tony Scott has called Everton “poor” after they drew 0-0 with Brentford on Saturday.

Despite their opponents going down to ten men in the 41st minute, the Toffees failed to capitalise and instead shared a point with the Bees.

Given Everton’s poor start to the season which has seen them win just two of their opening 12 games, this would have been a perfect opportunity to pick up three points but Sean Dyche’s side never looked likely.

Scott was blunt in his analysis following the game as he said on the Royal Blue Youtube channel: “Everton were quite poor and they’ll see this as a missed opportunity playing against ten men.

“Lots of boos from the home supporters at the final whistle because they’ll see this one as two points dropped.”

Everton needed to win this game

Although the Toffees picked up a point against a Brentford side who have been impressive at times this season, there were no excuses for them not to take all three given how long they had an extra man in the game.

With only two wins from the campaign so far, there have to be concerns within the Everton camp over where the victories are going to come from if they’re failing to take advantage of situations like this, especially given they were on home turf.

The pressure continues to mount on Dyche as his future is looking more uncertain by the day and with boos from the crowd, it seems as though patience is wearing thin amongst the fanbase.

It doesn’t always have to be pretty but for a side that is sitting just three points clear of the relegation zone, it is imperative that they are able to grind out results in these games and their inability to do so in this case will surely leave supporters already concerned about how they will fare come what could be a crucial end of season run-in.

In other Everton news, Alan Stubbs has offered his verdict on the future of Sean Dyche at Goodison Park.
