Wenham moots Tottenham to recall 'Special' loanee in January as fresh prediction emerges

John Wenham has speculated that Tottenham could recall George Abbott from his loan with Notts County in January.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has described the 19-year-old as a “special” player.

Abbott has started all three of Notts County’s EFL League One matches since making his debut off the bench in a 2-1 win at Swindon Town (31 August), impressing with his performances thus far.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – claims Spurs could soon reevaluate his loan.

“I’m pleased that Abbott has joined Notts County,” Wenham said.

“He’s a special player who can play a couple of positions, and he seems to be bossing it at the age of 19.

“I’ve seen that they’ve been comparing him to some of their most promising loan players. Therefore, if by January time he is continuing to excel, then we will need to reevaluate the loan.

“He is already 19, so it might be wise to move him up a division to continue his positive trajectory.”

Tottenham to recall George Abbott from Notts County?

Abbott impressed with his performances as captain of Spurs’ Under-21s last season. As a result, he earned himself his first senior loan move, which appears to be going well thus far.

Alfie Devine played his football in EFL League Two last season before being moved to the Championship in January, and that certainly hasn’t harmed his career prospects after his latest move.

Therefore, if Tottenham were to do something similar with Abbott it could benefit the youngster, who will be hoping to make an impression on Ange Postecoglou.

There are plenty of talented young players at Hotspur Way, and the Australian will be keen to get those players involved wherever possible.
