Robert Vilahamn would have been delighted as Hayley Raso shone on her debut for Tottenham Hotspur Women.

Vilahamn’s side made the perfect start to their 2024/25 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign, thrashing Crystal Palace Women 4-0 at Brisbane Road.

Goals from Raso, Jessica Naz, Drew Spence and Olga Athinen ensured that the North London side started their season in style.

However, it is Raso’s performance in particular which would have left Vilahamn thrilled.

Spurs announced the signing of Raso from Real Madrid Women via the club’s official website (1 September), and she is not the only player to have signed from the Spanish club.

Raso was straight into the starting lineup for Spurs’ first competitive game of the season, making an instant impact on her debut as she found the back of the net after 19 minutes.

In addition, Raso played one key pass and provided two accurate crosses into the box, while also playing one accurate long ball (Sofascore).

She also completed 100 per cent of her dribbles and won 11 ground duels, as well as 100 per cent of her aerial duels.

As well as her goal, the 30-year-old missed one big chance, registering six shots overall, with three of those on target. Finally, she made two tackles and one interception on a debut to remember.

Vilahamn will be hoping to improve on Spurs’ sixth-placed finish in the WSL last season, and with Raso in the team, there is no reason why he shouldn’t be confident of doing so.

Spurs are away to Aston Villa Women on Sunday (29 September) where Raso will be looking to build on her bright start.

In other Tottenham news, one “special” player could be recalled from his loan spell away from the club.
