Michael Gannon has hit out at Philippe Clement for implementing a “boring” brand of football at Rangers.

Assessing the Gers’ current situation, the Daily Record journalist pointed out the lack of identity in the style of play at Ibrox.

He went on to rip Clement to shreds, saying the Light Blues’ performances are torturous to their fans even when they win.

“They’re boring the life out of their fans”, Gannon said on the Daily Record’s Hotline podcast [2 December].

“There’s absolutely no excitement in this Rangers team. There’s no pace, it’s all one-dimensional, there’s no real identity to the way they play.

“Even the wins are torturous for Philippe Clement right now.”

Rangers fans are certainly not having fun watching their team play this season whether home or away other than on rare European nights.

While the Light Blues have fallen 11 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership just 13 games into the season, their performances have also left much to be desired, with the style of play being far from what the supporters want to see.

Nevertheless, Clement has managed to cling to his job, with form in the UEFA Europa League possibly helping his cause, as said by Simon Jordan [talkSPORT, 2 December].

However, some, including Keith Jackson, reckon the Belgian tactician will be lucky to be in charge at Ibrox come the end of the month.

The Light Blues face Kilmarnock and Ross County in their next two league games before hosting Tottenham at home in the Europa League on 12 December.

They then lock horns with Celtic at Hampden in the Scottish League Cup final on 15 December.

With Patrick Stewart starting as the club’s CEO on 16 December, Clement could very much be on thin ice in Govan this month.

In other Rangers news, Barry Ferguson has said that this Gers star is in his final season at Ibrox as he is not in Clement’s long-term plans.
