Wenham details 'Huge' Tottenham boost as Doctor shares injury update on Arsenal star

John Wenham claims the absence of Arsenal midfielder Martin Ødegaard would be a “huge boost” for Tottenham.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the Arsenal captain is one of the Premier League’s best players.

Ødegaard was injured while in action for Norway ahead of the North London derby on Sunday (15 September). According to Norway’s team doctor, Ola Sand, (BBC Sport, 11 September) the 25-year-old is likely to be out for at least three weeks.

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is still wary of the quality elsewhere in Arsenal’s squad.

“Ødegaard is a fantastic player,” Wenham said.

“Therefore, for him to be missing alongside Declan Rice, would be a huge boost for Tottenham. However, Arsenal still have quality throughout the squad.

“Leandro Trossard can come in and score goals, they still have the likes of Jorginho and Thomas Partey, not to mention Bukayo Saka.

“Whatever side they put out on the day will be a huge test for Tottenham. Therefore, we will need to be at our absolute best to get anything from that game, and we will need a bit of luck too.

“These games are often decided by very tight margins. It is a huge match and if Spurs can win, I think it would be a real springboard in confidence.”

Martin Ødegaard to miss out for Arsenal against Tottenham?

While Premier League managers often play mind games, Norway’s team doctor has no reason to do that.

Therefore, this update on Ødegaard more or less confirms that the midfielder is unlikely to feature in the North London derby on Sunday.

With Rice also missing, Spurs have been handed a huge advantage. As a result, Postecoglou and his players must now ensure that they capitalise.

In other Tottenham news, the club have been handed another “huge” boost as team news emerges ahead of the North London derby.
