Tottenham beat Arsenal to close in on deal to sign West Ham United attacker

Tottenham are set to sign West Ham United wonderkid Kyran Thompson in the summer transfer window, according to The Secret Scout.

The youth football expert who has a strong track record of breaking academy transfer news in the UK reported via X on Friday (19 July) that the attacking midfielder will swap the London Stadium for the Lilywhites.

Spurs have won a competitive race for Thompson’s signature, with The Secret South reporting (26 May) that the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United were all interested in signing the teenager.

West Ham United’s loss is certainly Tottenham’s gain as Ange Postecoglou’s side have managed to secure the signature of an incredibly promising talent ahead of several of their Premier League rivals.

Although the 15-year-old will still be a million miles away from having an impact on the Lilywhite’s first team, he is clearly incredibly well thought of in the English game because of the host of clubs tracking his progress.

Spurs have several young talents of their own impressing at youth level currently and Postecoglou has shown in the past that he is more than willing to throw them into the first-team fold when he feels they’re ready.

This deal is unlikely to cost Tottenham much more than a training compensation fee because of the fact Thompson had been with West Ham from the age of nine, but that will be a small price to pay if he maximises his potential.

Hopefully, the teenager will continue to develop and impress in the coming years. If he does, Spurs may have managed to get their hands on a real gem that could play in the first team for years to come yet.
