Tottenham fans thrilled by Sky's Jonathan David update

Tottenham Hotspur fans have revealed their excitement online over the club’s strong links to Lille striker Jonathan David.

Spurs are reportedly among the Premier League clubs interested in luring David from Ligue 1 [Sky Sports, 21 June], with the Canadian scoring 26 goals in each of the last two seasons.

Football Insider revealed in late March that Manchester United should also “be at the front of the queue” for the 24-year-old, and the Red Devils have reinforced their interest in David alongside Spurs and Chelsea.

David joined Lille from Belgian side Gent in 2020, lifting the Ligue 1 title in his first season in France, and has since hit 84 goals in 183 games alongside 26 in 49 full Canada caps.

Inevitably attracting Premier League interest for his consistent goalscoring exploits, the striker has just 12 months remaining on his current contract and has been rated with a current market value at £42m (€50m) [Transfermarkt].

Tottenham’s only summer signing thus far is teenage Sweden midfielder Lucas Bergvall from Djurgarden.
