Tottenham have now done something no other Premier League side has in history

Tottenham ended 2024 on a sour note after conceding a late equaliser in the 2-2 draw against Wolves.

Ange Postecoglou has problems to sort out at Spurs after a run of just two wins in the last ten games across all competitions, with plans to strengthen in the January transfer window.

The Australian has already admitted Tottenham will attempt to sign new players this winter, saying: “We will try and reinforce. Where and what number we’ll have to wait and see.

“You don’t just want to panic and bring in anybody that you don’t think will help our cause in the back half of the year, but I think we’ve already shown we are pretty methodical and prudent about our work. We’ll make sure we’ll bring somebody in who is going to help us.”

The north Londoners certainly need to do something to change their fortunes, as they actually set a truly unwanted record during Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League win over Wolves.

Tottenham make Premier League history for conceding the first goal at home

When Hwang Hee-chan put Wolves ahead in the seventh minute earlier on Sunday, history was made.

Tottenham are now the first and only team in the Premier League era to go 1-0 down in 15 home games across a single calendar year, a statistic which will surely concern Postecoglou.

It proves Spurs truly struggle to make the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a fortress and a place opponents fear – something that needs to change if the north Londoners are to be successful under the man born in Nea Filadelfeia.

Evidently, Tottenham are quite fragile in regards to their mentality.

Who Spurs could sign to help Ange Postecoglou

Tottenham have already been linked with a few players ahead of the January transfer window.

Spurs are monitoring Ko Itakura as Postecoglou aims to bolster Tottenham’s defence, which has been well and truly stretched in recent weeks.

Archie Gray and Yves Bissouma even had to line up as centre-back partners in the recent 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest after Radu Dragusin went off injured.

Spurs are also looking to improve the attack, with Postecoglou eyeing Vitor Roque – the Brazilian striker currently on loan at Real Betis from Barcelona.

Interestingly, Tottenham could also sign Johnny Cardoso – who a £20.7m fee has already been agreed for.

If Tottenham can find a way to bring these players to N17 in January, it would certainly help.
