Graham Potter is now leading the running to succeed Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, according to the latest bookmaker odds.
The former Brighton and Chelsea boss is 6/1 on Bet Victor [22 November] to take the reins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe and Fulham manager Marco Silva in the odds.
Postecoglou has emerged as a surprise candidate to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked as his side’s inconsistent start to the season continued with the 2-1 loss against Ipswich Town two weeks ago.
Tottenham could sack Ange Postecoglou
Harry Redknapp has warned Postecoglou that the pressure at Tottenham could prove to be unbearable if he cannot immediately return to winning ways after the international break.
However, this is easier said than done for the Australian as he will face a wounded Pep Guardiola away from home, fresh off a four-match losing streak.
There have been claims that the Spurs boss is running out of ideas to turn around his side’s fortunes and is becoming “restless” at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium – he has won five and lost five of his opening 11 Premier League fixtures this term.
Talk of dismissing Postecoglou is a baffling concept, particularly after his impressive exploits in his maiden season last term, and the alarm bells are not ringing in North London just yet.
But still, the performances on the pitch do not match the quality the squad possesses, and the loss to Ipswich at home was undoubtedly a low point in a campaign that threatens to became a damp squib.
Postecoglou could very well be experiencing second-season syndrome at Tottenham. His no-nonsense brand of attacking football has been found out this year, and the longer he stubbornly persists with his style of play, the more his sacking becomes a reality.
Therefore, the oddsmakers will naturally continue to speculate who could potentially be the next figurehead at Spurs for as long as the ongoing troubles on the pitch continue. It is therefore up to Postecoglou to end the speculation by picking up wins.
In other Tottenham news, Spurs have made a final transfer decision on Son Heung-min in a surprising exit twist.
