'Beyond frustrating' - Wenham fumes as Tottenham duo ruled out until 2025

John Wenham has expressed his frustration after Tottenham forwards Richarlison and Wilson Odobert were both ruled out until next year.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims Odobert’s injury setbacks will have prevented him from settling in North London.

While speaking ahead of Spurs’ Premier League clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday [23 November], Ange Postecoglou provided an update on Odobert and Richarlison.

The Australian said [via Football London, 22 November], “Obviously Wilson will be out for a fair chunk of the season, Richy hopefully will be back in the new year”.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – is frustrated by this injury development, particularly in the case of Richarlison.

“Think about the number of players we sign that are instantly injured,” Wenham said.

“We even had it with Dominic Solanke. It stops them from coming in and hitting the ground running, which would help them settle in and feel confident.

“It is incredibly frustrating that Odobert is going to miss so much of the season. Richarlison is also out until the new year. He is missing all of these important games now and seems to be permanently unavailable, which is beyond frustrating.”

It has been speculated that Odobert might not be available again until March. Therefore, that means that in the 19-year-old’s debut Spurs season, he would have been available for selection for less than half of that campaign.

As for Richarlison, he has constantly struggled with injury setbacks since joining the club, with Spurs being urged to sell the striker.

Therefore, with two first-team players sidelined for such a long time, Postecoglou is going to have to come up with some creative solutions to keep things ticking over.

Otherwise, the Spurs boss could be in trouble, as speculation over his future continues to swirl.
