Tottenham ready to win race to seal Liam Delap transfer ahead of Newcastle United

Tottenham want to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap in the upcoming January transfer window, according to CaughtOffside.

The online outlet reported [22 October] that Spurs lead the race for the 21-year-old, with Premier League rivals Arsenal, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Newcastle United also keeping tabs.

However, the Tractor Boys could demand over £30 million to part ways with the Englishman, who has scored four goals this season.

Do Tottenham need Liam Delap?

Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke this summer for a deal worth up to £65 million from Bournemouth [David Ornstein, 9 August].

However, the England international has failed to get going so far at Spurs, with just three goals in nine appearances for the club in all competitions.

But Ange Postecoglou seems to fully trust the 27-year-old, who has started in six of eight games in the Premier League, only missing through an injury issue.

Hopefully, Solanke will be able to repay the Australian’s faith in him by the end of the season.

Therefore, it seems like Tottenham don’t require additional reinforcements up front, with Richarlison also capable of being deployed in the number nine position.

Delap joined Ipswich from City in the recent transfer window, and the youngster has shown promise and maturity as the Tractor Boys fight to stay in the top flight.

However, whether Spurs will sign the 27-year-old in the coming window remains to be seen.
