View: 100% star shows up for Tottenham Women despite defeat v Chelsea Women

Eveliina Summanen did all she could as Tottenham Women lost 5-2 to Chelsea Women in the Barclays Women’s Super League at Kingsmeadow on Sunday (20 October).

After a bright start to the 2024/25 campaign, Robert Vilahamn’s side have now lost their last three games on the bounce.

They went through their first three games unbeaten. However, that run quickly came to an end as the fixtures started to become more difficult.

The North London side were beaten 3-2 by Liverpool Women in the WSL at Brisbane Road on Sunday 6 October, before being thrashed 3-0 by Manchester United Women at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday 13 October, once again in the league.

Therefore, their defeat against Chelsea marked a third consecutive league defeat, leaving Vilahamn with plenty to do. However, one player who clearly doesn’t need any extra help is midfielder Summanen.

While most of her teammates had an evening to forget, Summanen was a bright spark for Vilahamn.

She contributed to both of Spurs’ goals, scoring one and setting up the other. In addition, as per Sofascore, the 26-year-old completed 82 per cent of her passes, with three of those key.

Summanen won one ground duel, and 100 per cent of her aerial duels, while 100 per cent of her long balls were accurate. She also made three clearances, made one interception, one tackle and blocked one shot.

Her performance wasn’t perfect, as she was dribbled past twice. However, it was a display which underlined her credentials as one of, if not the most, important players at Tottenham.
