Tottenham set to win race for Eberechi Eze despite Manchester United transfer interest

Tottenham are the most likely destination for Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze at the end of the season, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reported on Monday [14 October] that Manchester United are preparing a move for Eze but will face competition from Spurs, who are the favourites for his signature.

Ange Postecoglou’s side reportedly eyed a move for the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window, but the club was criticised for being “reactive rather than proactive” as the late approach failed to bear any fruit.

Tottenham endured a relatively quiet transfer window this summer to the disapproval of the supporters,. with only Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall coming through the door at Enfield.

Postecoglou has endured mixed fortunes in the Premier League so far this season, winning only three of the opening seven matches, with the 3-2 loss to Brighton before the international break undoing the good work of the 3-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford the week prior.

Brennan Johnson has emerged as the surprise package in North London; the 23-year-old has scored in his last six consecutive matches, equalling the record set by former striker Harry Kane.

James Maddison and Son Heung-min, meanwhile, have failed to hit the heights of last season, and it is becoming apparent a fresh dimension is needed in the Spurs attack to reinvigorate the side.

While Tottenham have been warned against the signing of Eze, there are few players available in the market of his quality and with his wealth of Premier League experience.

The Crystal Palace man is ready to take the next step in his career and follow a similar path to Maddison, who took his game to the next level at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium after his move from Leicester City.

With Manchester United sniffing around, a decision will need to be made soon. Daniel Levy should not hesitate in bringing Eze to North London, where he will surely develop into a world-class talent under Postecoglou.
