Galatasaray are lining up a move to sign Son Heung-min amid concerns about his future at Tottenham, according to Fanatik.
The Turkish news outlet reported on 19 November that Galatasaray are planning to get rid of ex-Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech in the January transfer window and Son, 32, is on the Istanbul club’s radar as a potential replacement.
Fanatik claims that while a move for Son is complicated, a done deal for the South Korea captain would “make a splash all over the world”.
Son’s contract at Spurs is due to expire at the end of the season. However, the Premier League club holds the option to extend it by a further year and it is understood that the ex-Bayer Leverkusen attacker will hold talks with Tottenham “in the coming days”.
Tottenham have to clear up Son future ASAP
It’s no secret that Son is a key player for Tottenham with the captain having already registered three goals and three assists in eight appearances for his side this season.
If manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to bring success to North London, it is imperative that they keep hold of their key players who can make a difference.
If the pressure of this extension can be sorted between the player and his club, then we will no doubt see Son continue to shine after the international break under a boss who gives him the freedom to play attacking football.
Whilst a move to Galatasaray may not have been what fans expected to see, the Turkish club do currently sit at the top of their league.
Furthermore, whilst their Champions League campaign didn’t go to plan this year after losing both of their play-off games, the opportunity to play in the top European competition is more than Spurs could offer him this season.
If we do see the 32-year-old leave Tottenham this summer, you can assume we would see him follow in ex-teammate Harry Kane’s shoes and head to a club, like Galatasaray, where he may be able to get his hands on some silverware.
