Tottenham takeover: Stefan Borson reacts after liquidator appointed

Amanda Staveley appointing a voluntary liquidator to dissolve her company won’t have any impact on her bid to secure a stake in Tottenham.

That is the view of finance expert Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the British businesswoman would likely be fronting any deal on behalf of other people through a different vehicle.

A filing with Companies House on 14 October revealed Redstart Leisure Limited has filed a special resolution to wind up the company, with a voluntary liquidator set to be appointed.

Redstart was used in the Saudi-backed takeover of Newcastle United in 2021, where Staveley took an initial 10 per cent share in the club.

Staveley’s company Apollo Belvedere Services, formerly PCP Capital Partners, was also liquidated in September.

The 51-year-old has been spotted in the executive boxes at Tottenham in recent weeks after Football Insider revealed on 1 October she is advancing on plans to make a sizeable investment using Middle Eastern money.

Amanda Staveley would only receive small Tottenham stake

Borson revealed Staveley would likely only take a small stake in Spurs if she can agree a deal with chairman Daniel Levy.

He told Football Insider: “I don’t think there is any significance in the dissolution of that business.

“I’m sceptical about the whole Spurs story anyway.

“She wouldn’t need to do it anyway through that vehicle.

“At the end of the day, if Amanda Stavely invests £500million in a football club, she will probably be fronting it on behalf of other people, will have a relatively small equity stake in that vehicle, and will probably want to set up a completely fresh vehicle anyway.

“I wouldn’t read too much into it. If something is going to happen, the structuring of the corporate entity that does it is something that can be addressed quickly.

“You can buy a company immediately and you can fund it as required very quickly.

“I wouldn’t read anything into it.”
