Tottenham host Manchester City in the Carabao Cup in a clash between two of English football’s heavyweights.
Spurs welcome Pep Guardiola’s team on Wednesday (30 October) in the round of 16 of the domestic cup competition.
Ange Postecoglou’s team are coming off a disappointing result after losing 1-0 to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on 27 October.
A win over the Citizens will keep Tottenham’s hopes of ending their trophy drought this season alive.
Tottenham v Manchester City preview
Postecoglou’s second campaign in charge of the North Londoners has been inconsistent.
Spurs have struggled to get into their rhythm, and the team has failed to find a balance, which has been an issue since last season.
After a rather timid start, the 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the league looked to be when things would kick off for the club, but that hasn’t been the case.
The 4-1 thrashing of West Ham was encouraging, but the Tottenham faithful had to see their team stumble again at Selhurst Park.
City have not been at their best this season and lost one of their most crucial players in Rodri early on.
Despite their results, the Sky Blues have shown vulnerability at the back, conceding a few goals against the likes of Fulham and Wolves recently.

Tottenham and Manchester City team news
In the pre-match press conference [football.london, 29 October], Postecoglou revealed that while Son Heung-min has made some progress with regard to his injury, it’s unlikely that he’ll feature against City.
Another absentee will be Wilson Odobert, who had a setback in injury, but Djed Spence is back training.
Considering the Australian manager hinted at winning a trophy this season, it’s likely he’ll opt for a strong team for the cup tie.
Micky Moore is still young and his performance against Palace will likely make way for Timo Werner to come back into the starting lineup.
For the visitors, Rodri, who was this week crowned the Ballon d’Or winner, is out of action for the rest of the season.
Guardiola will also be unable to call upon the services of Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb for the game against Spurs.
Where to watch:
The game kicks off at 20:15 GMT.
TV channel: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.
Live stream: Sky Go app.
Tottenham v Manchester City predicted lineups
Tottenham: Vicario, Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Kulusevski, Bissouma, Maddison, Johnson, Solanki, Werner.
Manchester City: Ortega, Lewis, Stones, Akanji, Ake, Gundogan, Foden, Silva, Savinho, Haaland, Nunes.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Manchester City
It will be a tough fixture for the North Londoners, but Postecoglou’s style of play has been something that seems to work against team’s like City.
Considering both sides have been letting in goals recently, a clean sheet is hard to imagine and the more clinical team will come out on top in the end.
In other Tottenham news, Palace aren’t interested in selling Spurs-linked star in January.
