Championship side Cardiff City have emerged as a potential destination for Rangers ace Todd Cantwell this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported this via its website on 24 July after it was announced by Philippe Clement that the former Norwich man had handed in a transfer request.
The attacker is set to train with the Gers’ B Team until a buyer can be found.
Rangers need to sanction Todd Cantwell exit as soon as possible
Cantwell has been something of an inconsistent transfer for Rangers since he arrived from Norwich in January 2023.
When he was bought by the club, the move raised a fair few eyebrows due to his prior form for the likes of Bournemouth.
However, after he managed a total of 11 goal contributions in just 20 games for the Glasgow-based outfit during the 2022/23 season, the move was seen as a stroke of genius.
But, since then, Cantwell’s attitude has once again caught up with him as the attacker labelled a Gers fan as a “weapon.”
it’s undeniable that the second half of his 2023/24 season was far better than the first half but his performances still remained fairly lackluster.
The 26-year-old has been long-linked with an Ibrox exit [Daily Record, 15 July] and, it now feels as if the best thing for both parties is to cut their losses and allow him to depart this summer.
In other Rangers news, the Gers are in advanced talks with a Premier League club to sign ace on a season-long loan.
