'Unbelievable': Ray Parlour is convinced one Arsenal player is scoring against Aston Villa on Saturday

Arsenal and Aston Villa got their Premier League campaigns off to a winning start as they secured all three points on opening day.

As they prepare to lock horns this weekend, the game promises to be an exciting contest between two sides that have big ambitions this season.

Arsenal are aiming to pip Manchester City to the Premier League title after falling desperately short over the last couple of seasons.

Aston Villa, on the other hand, will look to build on their impressive fourth-place finish from last season as they prepare to play in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 1982-83 season.

As Unai Emery prepares to return to the Emirates Stadium, Ray Parlour tips the Gunners to get all three points with Bukayo Saka getting his name on the scoresheet again.

Parlour feels Arsenal weren’t great against Wolverhampton Wanderers despite winning 2-0 last weekend.

However, he believes Mikel Arteta’s side have enough firepower to see off Villa at home as he predicted a 2-1 win for Arsenal with Saka continuing his strong start to the season.

“They (Arsenal) weren’t great against Wolves. It was a bit stop-start, the first 20, 25 minutes, they weren’t as flowing as they usually are,” Parlour said on talkSPORT (7:46 AM, Aug 23rd).

“But I have got to go with Arsenal to nick a result here. I am going to go 2-1. Saka was unbelievable and played really well against Wolves. He is going to continue at Aston Villa and score a goal. 2-1.”

How did Saka fare against Wolves?

Arsenal were nowhere close to their best against Wolves but cruised to a routine 2-0 win, thanks in no small part to Saka.

The England international floated in a fantastic cross for Kai Havertz to head home in the first half as he produced a moment of magic to help break the deadlock.

Havertz returned the favour after the interval as Wolves threatened to get back into the game.

After receiving a pass from the German on the right flank, Saka cut into his preferred left foot and slammed the ball home from inside the box to put the game beyond reasonable doubt.

Alan Shearer believes Saka will score 20 Premier League goals this season, which is four more than his tally from the 2023-24 campaign.

The 22-year-old looked in fine form on opening day and if he carries on in the same way, you wouldn’t put it past him.

Arsenal will look to exact revenge against Aston Villa

Arsenal lost home and away to Aston Villa last season – two results that could have made a massive difference in the Premier League title race.

Emery’s side won 1-0 at Villa Park in December 2023 courtesy of an early goal from John McGinn.

The reverse fixtures turned out even better for Villa as they went to the Emirates and blew the Gunners way with late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins in April.

Paul Merson tips Arsenal to secure a hard-fought win on Saturday, but Arteta and his team need to be on their toes to secure all three points and exact revenge for their losses last season.
