Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur is to be available for the Rangers Europa League clash on 12 December, according to the Daily Record.
The news outlet reported on 18 November that a “loophole” has emerged in the rules despite a seven-game ban being imposed on the Uruguay international for racist comments on Son heung-Min.
However, the said ban is only for domestic league and cup games, which leaves him clear to feature against Gers.
Rangers and Tottenham will both be going for the win
Ange Postecoglou will be returning to Ibrox for the first time since leaving Spurs and will have the services of one of his best midfielders, who has been under fire for his comments.
It remains to be seen whether or not he’ll play as he will severely lack match sharpness.
At the same time, Postecoglou may not want to risk his first-team squad as he has not prioritised Europe this season.
Thus, Bentancur, along with a bunch of youngsters, could be given a chance to prove their worth in a high-profile clash.
It would be interesting to see how this game unfolds as both sides will be expected to go for the three points.
Whether or not Philippe Clement will still be the manager, remains to be seen, as results have been awful for the Belgian.
In other Rangers news, it has been confirmed that an Ibrox-linked player will be leaving his club at the right price.
