Kevin Malone is considering reigniting his interest in purchasing Everton after the Friedkin Group takeover collapsed, according to Shamoon Hafez.
Writing on his personal X account (19 July), the BBC Sport journalist reports that a consortium led by the LA Dodgers general manager is looking into a deal once again, after their initial interest lost out to Dan Friedkin’s bid.
That deal collapsed due to complications surrounding the money owed to 777 Partners [The Athletic, 19 July], and the group are “trying to figure out how to deal with that” before making a final decision on whether to try and purchase the club from Farhad Moshiri.
Everton need new owners quickly
It looked like things were finally looking up for Toffees fans and the club, with the future looking bright, until a bombshell dropped that the Friedkin Group were withdrawing from their bid [Alan Myers, 19 July].
Now there is big worry about the long-term future of the club again, with debts of over £600million owed to various people plus the stadium costs to complete the build looming over their head.
It’s a real shambles and with 777 Partners facing court proceedings [GE Globo, 15 May] for their issues which led to their takeover collapsing, it’s now causing a real problem for Everton.
Someone needs to come in and buy the club and help rid them of all their issues, but it’s clearly far more difficult than it seems because of the A Cap loans and current court cases.
Hopefully Malone and his team can find a way to make a deal work in a way that suits everybody, but the Toffees need answers and solutions as soon as possible or the future will only begin to look bleaker.
In other Everton news, the club have agreed a costly loan deal for a brand new attacker.
