Rangers have been slammed by Rory Loy for the amount of missed chances they had in their Scottish Premiership victory against Dundee on Saturday.
The Gers managed to slightly work away some of the deficit between themselves and league leaders Celtic as they climbed to second in the table thanks to their 1-0 victory at Ibrox (21 December).
Indeed, there are still nine points between the two teams but with the next Old Firm Derby set to take place on 2 January, that deficit could be cut down to six if the Gers can get one over their rivals.
Speaking on the Scottish Football Podcast (23 December), BBC pundit Loy called Rangers “guilty” of missing too chances, though, in the narrow win over Dundee.
“Rangers should and could have scored four or five goals, Igamane misses a sitter, bad decision making however Dundee could have nicked a draw out of that game,” he said.
“They had chances themselves and they were very guilty as well of poor decision-making in the final third.
“Listen, he’s come in for a lot of criticism Philippe Clement after these 1-0 wins but they were fully deserving of their win on Saturday and it should have been more”.
Rangers need to ensure they keep performance levels in the Scottish Premiership high
Over the last six weeks or so, Rangers have seemed to turn over a new leaf and are starting to make tangible progress after a shoddy start to the campaign.
They took a point off Tottenham in the Europa League in a game many observers agreed they deserved to win, while they suffered a heartbreaking penalty shoot-out defeat to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final after a pulsating 3-3 draw.
The Gers may not have come away with the trophy but there was plenty of cause for optimism after the performance they put in, not that numbs the pain of losing an Old Firm rival.
Hamza Igamane is one of the main reasons why the Gers have found themselves in an upturn of form and without him among their ranks, they’d no doubt be far worse off.
Of course, all good things must come to an end eventually but if they can keep up their purple patch of form until at least their game against Celtic on 2 January then things could start to look a lot brighter at Ibrox.
In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement has an easy transfer decision to make after the latest news that has emerged from Ibrox.
