Everton have managed to drag themselves out of their rut and have started to find their feet in the Premier League this season.
It might not seem like much but the fact the Toffees haven’t lost in their last two games is a major step up from where they found themselves at the start of the season.
Indeed their most recent home clash against Newcastle on 5 October ended as a 0-0 stalemate but it was evident that the Dyche’s men were up for a fight.
Iliman Ndiaye was in sensational form and was even hailed as “incredible” by Stephen Warnock after his goal-line clearance prevented Bruno Guimaraes from sending the Magpies 1-0 up.
Of all Everton’s summer transfers, the Senegal international has been the best addition to Dyche’s squad so far.
Everton ace Iliman Ndiaye v Newcastle in numbers
Ndiaye was brought in during the summer window for a fee worth around £15.6million [David Anderson, 3 July] and it’s arguably the best money the Toffees spent.
Other areas of their squad were also bolstered of course but it feels like his impact on the pitch has been the most evident.
This was shown by his performance during Everton’s game against Newcastle on Saturday (5 October) as he managed to end the clash with a pass accuracy of 82 per cent [Sofascore].
Dyche kept the 24-year-old on the pitch for the full 90 minutes and during that time he managed to get 45 touches on the ball which puts him ahead of some of his teammates such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin (34) and Dwight McNeil (38).
Although he failed to make any key passes during the game, of the two crosses he made, 100 per cent of them were accurate.
While the Senegal international showed his hand in attack, this didn’t stop him from putting in a stellar defensive shift.
Looking at his duels, Ndiaye successfully completed eight of the 15 ground duels he attempted and sustained a 100 per cent record aerially (2).
The attacker’s blocked shot was arguably the highlight of his game, however, it’s now clear how pivotal Ndiaye could be to Everton’s successes this term, especially if he keeps performing like he did against Newcastle.
In other Everton news, Anthony Gordon has broken his silence after his missed penalty against the Toffees.
