Keith Wyness: Everton to bank instant £60m+ windfall & avoid points deduction

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted the club’s new stadium will instantly bring in more than £60million in annual revenue.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the new money will help the Merseysiders with their “PSR (Profit and Sustainability Rules) issue”, after the club landed two points deductions last term.

Everton are applying the finishing touches at their new Bramley-Moore Dock home ahead of its opening in 2025.

The Toffees’ new state-of-the-art stadium will hold 52,888 fans and has been in construction since August 2021.

As well as football, the ground will host concerts and other non-sporting events to boost revenue for Everton going forward.

The club posted commercial revenue of £39million for the 2022-23 campaign, down from £50million (23%) a season earlier.

Everton new stadium revenue will end PSR woes, says Wyness

Wyness claimed further naming rights and sponsorship deals could lift the Merseysiders’ revenue above the £60million mark.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’ll be around £50million, all the way up to £60million.

“That’s a huge level of revenue coming to the club instantly – just as a result of moving into the new stadium.

“It does help a lot with the PSR issue, we can see that at other clubs.

“There will also be naming rights and the sponsorship deals at the new stadium, which can also increase that number.”
