Tottenham thrashed Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad, and Dejan Kulusevski was one of the several players who made their mark against Pep Guardiola’s team.
The Premier League champions suffered their fifth straight defeat in all competitions on 23 November, and Spurs have inflicted two of those.
The Sweden international started on the right-hand side of the attack, which was a bit different from his usual position in the middle of the park, which Ange Postecoglou seems to prefer the former Juventus star in.
James Maddison scored a first-half brace before Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson added to the scoreboard after the break.
Kulusevski was the architect for breaking the deadlock in the fixture as he masterfully beat Josko Gvardiol before crossing the ball in for Maddison to find the back of the net in the 13th minute.
Dejan Kulusevki gave ABBA vibes in Manchester City v Tottenham
ABBA have thrilled the English crowd in the past with their hit songs, and Jan Aage Fjortoft took to X during Spurs’ thumping of the champions to compare Kulusevski with the Swedish pop group.
“This Kulusevski performance at Etihad is the best performance of a Swede in England since ABBA in 1974,” he wrote. “And it’s a Waterloo this time as well.”
Apart from providing an assist, the 24-year-old xG and xA of 0.59 [FotMob] — highlighting his threat in the final third of the pitch.
While the winger didn’t get on the ball as much, with just 34 touches, he made the most of it by creating three chances, having 84 per cent passing accuracy and completing 100 per cent of his dribbles.
Things could’ve been worse on the day for City as Kulusevski also missed one big chance in the fixture.
The Sweden international also contributed defensively, winning 100 per cent of his ground duels and tackles.
For Spurs fans, what Kulusevski and the entire Tottenham team did on Saturday will go down in history books.
