In a season where Tottenham have been plagued by inconsistency, Pedro Porro has been the figure of consistency for Ange Postecoglou.

A 3-2 defeat to Brighton prior to the international break left Spurs in ninth and four points adrift of the Champions League spots after only seven games.

But Porro, who has featured in every league game this term, remains a stellar asset to Postecoglou’s system and has even chipped in with a goal this term.

His form has yielded recognition when he was named in Spain’s starting XI in their 1-0 home win over Denmark in the Nations League on 12 October.

And Porro’s stellar form for Tottenham has now seemingly carried over to the international level as he put in an impressive performance for La Roja.

Pedro Porro has cemented his starting XI spot for Tottenham

Spurs’ right-back depth is fairly stacked. They have Porro as the main option, while Djed Spence and Archie Gray can fill in there

However, Postecoglou’s preferred option is undoubtedly Porro and his performance against Denmark for his country will have only proven how indispensable he is to his manager.

As per Sofascore, the 25-year-old played the entirety of the clash and was defensively solid. Porro made one clearance, two interceptions and three tackles throughout the game.

In terms of duels won the Spaniard managed to win 50 per cent of those he attempted on the ground and 66 per cent of those in the air.

He did manage to commit one foul but as a defender, playing a full 90 minutes, it would be hard not to at least foul an opponent once.

Although his defensive contribution was spectacular, the attacking side of his game was arguably even better.

Porro managed 110 touches of the ball, which was more than anyone in Luis de la Fuente’s team and even ended the clash with a pass accuracy of 88 per cent.

He had one key pass in the game which allowed him to create one big chance and of the three long balls he attempted, 100 per cent of them were accurate.

Not only do these statistics show how valuable of a player Porro is to Spain and Tottenham but it also outlines how cemented his spot now likely is in Postecoglou’s starting XI.
