'Don't think it's true' - Wenham hits back at Daniel Levy after recent comments at Tottenham

John Wenham doesn’t believe Daniel Levy’s suggestion that he ignores criticism aimed toward him from Tottenham supporters.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims Levy has listened and responded to criticism in the past.

While speaking at a fan forum held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday 23 September, Levy was asked about the criticism he receives from supporters.

In response, the Tottenham chairman said, “I have a very thick skin and I just ignore it. Makes me want to be more successful” (via PaulHitsheet on X, 23 September).

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – doesn’t believe the 62-year-old.

“That whole fan forum is a bit stage-managed,” Wenham said.

“All the supporters are picked, and the questions are pre-approved. Therefore, it isn’t a fan forum where your average season ticket holder can ask direct questions of the club.

“Those comments from Levy didn’t go down well. In terms of what he said, I don’t think it’s true, about ignoring criticism. Whenever there has been singing in the stadium toward him, we’ve seen change.

“Whether that be a change of manager or an announcement of something new. As a result, I’m not sure how correct those comments were.”

Daniel Levy impacted by criticism at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Levy isn’t the most popular man in North London and is often on the receiving end of criticism from supporters.

Therefore, recent investment speculation (via The Mirror, 28 September) will have no doubt excited supporters and raised questions about Levy’s position with the club.

However, any potential investment could still be a long way off, if Levy accepts it at all.

Therefore, Spurs supporters shouldn’t get too excited by the prospect of change any time soon, and will most likely have to put up with Levy for a while longer.
