Bryan King has told Pedro Porro to “get on with the job” after the Tottenham star commented on Real Madrid transfer speculation.
The ex-Spurs scout isn’t surprised that the right-back is proud to be linked with a move to Real Madrid.
As relayed by via Fabrizio Romano on 9 October, Porro said about a potential transfer to the Spanish giants, “Of course, I’m proud with these links, it means I’m doing things well.
“If that happens one day, it happens. Now I’m fully focused on my club, Tottenham”,
And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the speculation is a sign that the Spaniard is playing well.
“His job is to play for Tottenham,” King said.
“That is the club who pays him, if he isn’t playing and he becomes unsettled then maybe he can start talking about moving clubs.
“However, until then, Tottenham are your club, get on with the job. Of course, he will be proud of the links. Real Madrid are one of the world’s biggest clubs, and if they’re seriously interested it means he is doing something right.
“We’ve seen Cristian Romero linked to Madrid. Spurs have a relationship with them, they’ve had Luka Modrić, and Gareth Bale go there.”
Pedro Porro to quit Tottenham and join Real Madrid?
As reported by The Athletic (11 October), Madrid have been building positive reports on Porro for years.
Therefore, Spurs supporters are bound to be a little nervous, especially with Porro essentially admitting he would welcome the move.
However, in all honesty, the 25-year-old didn’t need to say anything. It is hard to imagine any player turning down a move to Real Madrid, especially not a Spanish player who is beginning to make an impact at international level.
As a result, Ange Postecoglou might have to begin preparing for life without Porro, especially if Madrid come knocking soon. On the bright side, the defender is contracted with Spurs until 2028.
Therefore, Daniel Levy would likely be able to negotiate a big fee.
However, with Romero also linked to Real Madrid (via TyC Sports, 9 September), Tottenham won’t want to lose their entire backline to the European heavyweights.
