Dan Friedkin could make a bizarre managerial decision at Roma which could spell doom for Sean Dyche ahead of the impending Everton takeover.

Planeta Roma reported on 22 October that the Friedkin Group are already considering sacking Ivan Juric at Roma – and replacing him with Daniele De Rossi, whom they disposed of barely a month ago.

Back-to-back defeats against Elfsborg in Europe and Inter in Serie A have raised the possibility of De Rossi making a shock return to the Roma dugout, as Friedkin looks to “erase” last month’s mistakes.

The dismissal of De Rossi also led to the resignation of CEO Lina Souloukou, and she’s just one of the familiar Friedkin names who could pitch up at Goodison Park alongside the American [The Esk, 26 September].

Roma fans are growing frustrated with Friedkin’s “disassociation” with the club since his takeover was announced, and a trigger-happy attitude towards managers will certainly spark worries for Dyche.

Dan Friedkin developments won’t inspire confidence at Everton

Friedkin potentially re-hiring De Rossi just 35 days after sacking him is a clear showcase of an owner who regrets his earlier decision, and that’s worrying news for the beleaguered Goodison faithful.

After years of Farhad Moshiri’s hapless leadership seeing the club become a shadow of its former self, particularly in financial terms, the last thing fans want to see is another indecisive owner.

De Rossi potentially being back in the fold at Roma could be seen as a double-edged sword for Dyche, who’ll know that if Friedkin does sack him, he could be back in the dugout just as quickly.

However, with the Blues currently on a strong run of form and unbeaten in four games after their winless start to the Premier League season, Dyche will be hoping the ownership transition is a smooth one.

Friedkin’s arrival on Merseyside has been pitched as a game-changer for the fortunes of an English footballing institution, but the American must be cautious not to rock the boat more than is necessary.

In other Everton news, the Blues are monitoring the progress of a highly-rated defender who could cost £25million next summer.
