Ange Postecoglou could regret benching Dominic Solanke for Tottenham against Galatasaray.
Spurs will be looking to make it four wins from four in the UEFA Europa League this season at RAMS Park on Thursday (7 November).
Postecoglou and his players would have arrived in Istanbul full of confidence after their 4-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (3 November), even if that match did leave them with a big injury problem.
However, this is without a doubt the North London side’s toughest European test so far this season. Galatasaray are unbeaten in both the league and Europe this term.
Therefore, the absence of Solanke, as confirmed via Spurs’ official X account (7 November), will come as a big concern to Tottenham supporters.
Dominic Solanke misses out in Tottenham XI v Galatasaray
Solanke shone against Aston Villa last time out and was hailed for his performance after the match.
As per Sofascore, the striker was a constant threat for the Villa backline, battling hard up top, winning three ground duels and three aerial duels, while also making two tackles.
In addition to his two goals scored, and the 1.52xG that he generated, he also had a further shot on target as well as one which was blocked and one which missed the target.
Although he didn’t see a lot of the ball, only managing 19 touches and completing 60 per cent of his passes (three out of five), when he did have the ball, he was largely devastating.
While Spurs fans might be delighted to see Will Lankshear given the nod, in a game as tough as this one, that decision could come back to haunt Postecoglou.
In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy could make a statement by signing Sunderland wonderkid Chris Rigg.
